FAQs

Does it taste like insects?

No. Chittera is unflavoured and mild, closer to a light roasted nut than anything else. Stirred into food it reads as texture, not flavour.

Is it safe? What about allergens?

Crickets are a crustacean relative, so anyone with a shellfish or crustacean allergy should avoid it. Every batch is produced under a food-safety plan with three critical control points.

How much protein do I actually get?

14.9 g of whole-food protein per 20 g serve, at over 70% protein by weight, with all nine essential amino acids present.

Where is it made?

Chittera is Australian-owned and packed in Perth, Western Australia, from cricket powder produced by specialist food-grade growers.

Why cricket protein?

It is a single whole food that already contains the protein, B12, riboflavin and zinc other powders have to add back after processing.

Most protein powders are built in a lab — isolated, stripped back, then topped up with the nutrients processing took out.

Chittera is the opposite. One whole-food ingredient, farmed and milled, with its protein, B12, riboflavin and zinc already there.

Comparison is to typical whey and plant protein powders; formulations vary by brand. Chittera figures are independently tested by an accredited laboratory.
